This (1/16 summit) in my 6th car, nitro's & electric I have had & this is the best. The stock "charger" is a joke, have never even used it, 6 hours to charge 1 battery NO thanks. The first thing too get is a smart charger, that is the basic thing anyone needs; charge time for me 20min on my 1200mAp batteries, 30-35min for my 1400mAp batteries @ 2amps. Turn back (loosen) the slipper clutch, when you get the truck it will be fully locked down, when I got my truck I did not know this & ended up trashing one of the lower drive shafts in 8 days or about 5 hours of driving. Mine is set at 1 1/8th turn. If your going to be running it at high speeds you need a heat sink (you may need CPU thermal paste too make it fit right, like "actic silver 5") & cutting out the front & back windows helps with ventilation (I have a summer top & winter top, you can get a 1/16 Summit body for about $35-45 on eBay) This is a well made "little" truck, I can smoke my dads traxxas 1/10 Nitro with the series connector attached & it can smoke my nitro HPI & can take hard hits that either of those nitro cars can take. The car/truck is the cheapest part, the investment in other things is what gets you. The summit cost me $316+ taxes, the extras on the other hand; aluminum center drive shaft, aluminum push rods, aluminum toe rods, 5 extra batteries (6 total), smart charger, extra upper & lower drive shafts, aluminum skid plates front/back, aluminum steers, center diff., heat sink, heat shrink tubing, extra parts like screws, nuts slipper clutches, extra trans, extra spear gear, a summer body, grease, shock oil, thread lock, tools, tool box & more all add up. My 1/16 summit is not a $316 truck (bought mine from my local RC dealer) it is about a $475-500 truck with all the add ons I have put on + another $350 in spare parts, smart charger, tools, summer top & batteries. & I am thinking of going Lipo, that is another $150-200 there. Shopping here on amazon & on eBay will save you lots of $$$, like batteries, here on amazon it is about $18.50 free shipping & not sales tax, same battery same brand at my local RC dealer was $25 +tax. eBay, I was able to get a complete set of screws (about 60+ mixed sized traxxas 1/16 screws), local dealer 8 screws $4. Buying the aluminum skid plates, aluminum toe rods, aluminum push rods & aluminum steers here on amazon was cheaper then buying direct from manufacture, local dealer or even eBay. It is not a cheap hobby.
