I got this toy for my son for Christmas, and he loves it. We've built several structures together, and I see his mind beginning to grasp ideas like gravity and momentum as he experiments with it.
I just wish the darn thing was more durable! The first time we set it up, several of the cable-hangers snapped apart. They are very delicate and fragile, and that doesn't jive with a six-year-old's sometimes clumsy fingers. I need to contact the manufacturer for replacement parts, as parts of the structure need the hooked cable clasps (tieing them on interferes with the marble).
I'd still recommend it, particularly if your child can handle delicate parts without snapping them.
The original box didn't hold up long; we have a small rubbermaid tote that we keep all the little pieces in. There are literally hundreds of tiny pieces, so you'll need a way to keep them all together once the box dies.
