This is the TREX 450 Sport Super Combo from Align. The 450 Sport is a completely new T-Rex 450 design by Jason Krause. Building upon the extremely successful line of it's T-Rex 450 predecessors this new design incorporates the latest in technology to further improve it's great handling and flight characteristics. The Carbon Fiber side frames create a super strong and rigid airframe. The improved servo and linkage layouts provide more accurate control to the swashplate and the completely new head design. The larger and more powerful tail uses counter weighted blade grips to achieve better response and holding power and at a reduced tail RPM which results in more reliability and less maintenance. And to top it all off a restyled painted fiberglass canopy makes it a stand out from all the others! My blades poped-off before the first batery charge was used up. The shaft linking them unscrewed itself due to normal vibration, and I don't see any threadlock residue on either the screw that came off or the one that remained tight (they screw in and out smoothly and they appeared tightly screwed at my initial check). Fortunately, I was still doing on the ground trimming of the servos when this happened. The schematics say (somewhere in the fine print) that you should check the factory pre-assembled parts, and I've learned the hard way that I can't rely on the assembly done by others.
The motor can be just as much fun. It gives new meaning to the word "outrunner", really the outer part is the rotor (no enclosing case), so if you ever have a screw loose or just a pebble of sand inside your cannopy ... the blades won't even catch up to it. :)
On the good side, I like the gyro's reaction time and configuration options, and the tail servo.
How much fun this is depends on whether you consider the "on the ground" adjustments/trimming, assembly, cleaning, and maintenance ... fun, but it's certainly educational.
