From the Manufacturer
The Ford Company is done with cars rather than in conjunction with aircraft, but it has also in the aviation history of their well-deserved and important place. After Henry Ford on the car market had turned its attention to the airlift. 1925 he organized and financed an aircraft competition to see what the best aircraft was built. From the winner of the competition, the Fokker F-Vlla-3M, he was so impressed that he had to construct a similar aircraft ordered. This was a combination of the three high-wing form of the Fokker and a construction of full and Alclad (the American version of an extremely tough corrugated metal plate from Junkers) - a reliable and economical airplane that up to 17 passengers as well as significant volumes of mail and other cargo hold. This combination was the guarantee of success for the new model and it was tough competition in the'20s to keep up. Especially noteworthy is that even in the 1990s, a handful of these "tin goose" in use. Until the production stop in 1933, a total of 78 4-ATs and 117 5-ATs have been built. They flew for all major U.S. air companies, including American Airways (our model), Pan-American and Trans-Atlantic Air Transport (TAT). Tools needed to complete construction: mid-sized scissors, modeling knife, water-based glue, ruler or triangle, and modeling pins. Tools Not Included.
