We love the idea of indoor helicopters. I was hesitant at first when my 4 year old son was given an Air Hog as a gift, thinking that for young kids it could be dangerous. These tend to be so light that it is not really a major concern. They are a lot of fun, and pretty easy to learn to fly, but you don't have great steering control. We purchased the Kid Galaxy about two months after getting an Air Hog for a gift. I thought that with the rings around the blades that this would last longer than the Air Hog. I was wrong. It lasted about a week. The blades separated from the ring and it went down hill from there. Now it can't get off the ground. Yet the Air Hog still flys. I tried to glue the blades back on the rings, but now it's too heavy to fly. They both have an equal amount of control - which is basically lot's of lift, but not too much steering control. I think I might go for a more high end Air Hog for my next choice - hoping to get better steering control. Note - these don;t work well outside - ie. - in bright sunlight. The remote control uses infrared, which sunlight can interfere with. Also the helicopter can fly pretty high, and get stuck in trees or roofs. Best to use these in large rooms that don't have too much to run into. Like basements.
