I happened to spot one of these models for sale at the gift shop in the Air and Space museum in San Diego and was struck by the colour, which really did look like the Red Baron Red I grew up reading about. Rightly or wrongly, I remember it have a white cowling like this model, rather than the red cowling often seen, although both might be correct. I didn't buy it at the time, but it stayed in my mind, and I purchased it later through Amazon. The truly marvelous and remarkable thing about this model is its strength. I had intended to give it to my son when he was older, but it seemed so strudy I gave it to him immediately. He has had it for 5 months, carrying it everywhere, dropping it, playing with it. He just turned two a few days ago, so you can imagine the abuse it has suffered. But, with the exception of the tail, which broke off once, and is now superglued on, it looks brand new and unscathed. When one considers the price, this is a remarkable model. Authentic AND tough.
