We bought this model for my 12 year old son. The first time we took it out admittedly it was a bit too windy, especially for a beginner but he couldn't wait to try it out. The first time we launched the plane the wind caught it and it went straight into the grass.
The result was a bent motor shaft and a broken prop. It turned out the motor was one of the only parts that was almost impossible to get a replacement for. We checked all over the net and finally had to wait about 6 weeks for a replacement.
It was easy to replace and the next time we tried it there was almost no wind and we got 2 good flights before it went into the grass again with the same result! This time I was ready and did a quick swap out on the field and have had no more motor problems yet.
The plane fly's very fast and is quite maneuverable. Maybe a bit too fast for a beginner. The body seems to take a beating with no problems but beware the nose in impacts!
