Academy F-14A Tomcat VF-84 Jolly Rogers 1980 Model Kit

This is a 1/72nd scale MRC/academy plastic model kit of the U.S. Navy's twin-engined F-14A Tomcat. The grumman F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. It first flew in December 1970 and was first deployed in 1974 with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), replacing the F-4 Phantom II. The tomcat served as the U.S. Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense interceptor and tactical reconnaissance platform. This kit includes markings of a VF-84 version tomcat, from the fighter squadron VF-84 Jolly Rogers, Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8). VF-84 flew the F-14A from 1976 until the squadron was dis-established on October 1st, 1995. This kit contains highly detailed cockpit interior and landing gear compartment, a full complement of underwing weaponry, and moveable "swing wing". A kit of this precision and quality is completed with a cartograf decal sheet and detailed painting instructions giving the modeer a choice of five finishing schemes, including two VF-84 "Jolly Rogers", two VF-41 "Black Aces" and one VF-101 "Grim Reapers" aircraft.
